Les Buvologues is an online magazine for wine lovers in Burgundy, Beaujolais and Jura. We had the pleasure to receive, Mr. Guillaume Baroin, on February 23rd, shared with us his favorite wine.
Marsannay Les Grasses Têtes 2018, "Under a pure ruby color appears between nose and flavor a unity of juice with a pleasant tannin, fresh as water. Except that water does not retain a licorice flavor like this. This is simply a great wine. At a price below its value".
We have the pleasure to have obtained the note of 98/100 !
We look forward to tasting his wines at the Château de Marsannay

As part of the Marsannay tasting, Bourgogne Aujourd'hui interview Sylvain Pabion, the estate manager of the Château, on the aims goals of organic farming certification of the Château de Marsannay:
"With the Château de Meursault, we are conducting an environmental tought, especially to make our soils more alive. ". Here is a short extract of the very good marks obtained by the wines of Château de Marsannay:
Marsannay Au Champ Salomon 2018, 17.5/20
Marsannay Le Boivin 2018, 17.5/20
The Château de Marsannay promotes the Climats de Bourgogne, during cellar visits and tastings.
🍷 Tasting of Marsannay Les Longeroies 2018 and Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2018 by Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve.
Château de Marsannay is in its third year of organic conversion and we have the HVE Level 3 certification, "High Environmental Value. "The 2018 Marsannays were very well managed, highlighting either fruitiness or race depending on the potential of the different terroirs. "
Marsannay Les Longeroies, "Great potential"
"The Year 2018 is a great vintage that resembles great Gevrey. A very nice balance in the mouth: delicacy, depth, and accuracy. We have the beauty of Pinot Noir, perfectly vinified, a very nice authentic work. The well-worked terroir expresses itself beautifully. "
Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2018, "Classicism, elegance."
Delicious Grand Cru Les Ruchottes Chambertin, is meant to be elegant and efficient. A very apparent soil on the surface, which gives it a great minerality and subtlety in the aromas. Of incredible finesse and purity, a must for Burgundy tasting.

Between April 6th and April 8th, 2021, a giant polar air mass came across and caused a massive frost on the Burgundy vineyards. A snowy episode turned into a frost on Château de Marsannay. The heat of the last days of March particularly stimulated the budding of the vine. The great majority of the vineyard became very vulnerable. We were hit by an advective type of frost, by a very cold uniform air mass (down to -6 degrees), against which almost no means of fighting could compete. We hope to have some good surprises on the latest-developing plots, where the buds were still dormant, but we can already draw a conclusion about the 2021 vintage: it will be rare and therefore difficult to obtain.
"Château de Marsannay extends over nearly 40 ha, in organic conversion. It is present in village appellations, 1er crus and grand crus of the Côte de Nuits. Since 2012 it belongs to the Halley family, also owner of Ch. de Meursault. Numerous qualitative investments have been made." "Well known to label collectors, this steep terroir - we understand the name of the climate better then ... - is exploited here on a little more than 2 ha: volume therefore, but also, and above all, many qualities. Starting with the robe, a beautiful limpid garnet. On the nose, blackcurrant, cinnamon, roasted coffee and pepper give themselves to the heart's delight. This concentrated and intense bouquet is matched by an ample, dense and equally expressive mouth (morello cherry, smoked wood, dried fruits), supported by velvety tannins and a long and intense finish. A very beautiful bottle for laying down." Bourgogne du Château 2018 : "A nose of a good complexity (prune, red fruits, vegetal and smoky notes) and a palate with a pleasant and greedy background".
Terre de Vins magazine published a very interesting article about the Côte de Nuits and different wine estates in this geographical area. Among these, the Château de Marsannay, with its 40 hectares. Its manager Mr. Sylvain PABION and the general director Mr. Stéphane FOLLIN-ARBELET express the desire to convert the entire estate into organic.
